Chronicle>Trial of Carrie Buck>playters
Carrie Buck's daughter Vivian was found to be feebleminded at the age of about seven months. Arthur Estabrook testified at trial that she was feebleminded, and said that he had given her the usual test for a baby of about six months old, but that in fact she had failed. The test, this picture seems to suggest, was to hold a coin in front of the baby's eyes. She didn't focus, and therefore she was declared like her mother, feebleminded.
